Description
Made by the Witch these magical spell candles feature beautiful Slavic embroidery patterns on both sides with each “stitch”, star or flower having its own meaning. Ukrainians believe that embroidery is a magical talisman protecting against everything from bad all the way to representing happiness, fate, life, and power in the ornaments. These beautiful candles are to be burned on your main altar. Your Red Corner so to speak. They will bless your home, honour your ancestors and act as a quick mini offering.
The icon corner, sacred corner or red corner, (Greek: εικονοστάσι – meaning red, bright-shining, or beautiful corner) is a small worship space prepared in the homes of Eastern Orthodox, Greek-Catholic and Roman Catholic Christians. It also appears in Slavic homes and has pre-Christian roots. Generally, in the corner of the house where icons hang and there is a table. One of the most important place in the home & traditionally, such a sacred place was in every home. In pagan times, idols of domestic gods stood in a red corner. However, with the advent of Christianity, their place became occupied by icons and consecrated objects. For example, a vessel with theophany water, twigs of consecrated willows and Trinity greens, etc. The Red Corner was a home altar, where the family stood in prayer each morning and each evening, where thanks, petitions, and honour were given to spirits & ancestors. The icon area was draped with a cloth. A candle glowed. Upon entering the house, visitors first acknowledged the icons and ancestors. They gave a respectful bow, making the sign of the cross, and sometimes offering a short blessing or prayer, before going on to greet the members of the household.
