Signs of Carpathian Magic – The Secret of Old Molfar

The basis of the book was conversations with Molfar Mykhaylo Nechay supplemented by Gromovytsa Berdnyk’s reflections on Carpathian Molfarism as a component of the world shamanic tradition. The work on this book marked the beginning of the author’s long-term friendship with Mykhailo Nechai, a Carpathian proverb, molfar and master of Tradition. The illustrations are no less beautiful than the text – Anastasia Stefurak knows how to bewitch the reader so much that you understand: artists are the same molfaras, only with a brush or a tablet instead of a magic wand.

Molfars in the Carpathian Mountains (Ukraine) are those who possess unusual magic capabilities that far exceed those of any other sorcerer. The word “molfar” comes from the word “molfa”, which means a bewitched, enchanted object.

A wonderful book for all those interested in Ukrainian folk magic and witchcraft. Don’t be discouraged that it is written in Ukrainian. I find that in this wonderful age that the google translate app does a great job. When I don’t know a word or am having trouble translating a sentance I just hold up my phone and it live translates the page.
