Pysanka Shaker & Egg Shells

CAD $35.00

I know I know you are all looking at this like I am crazy and maybe I am. This vintage Slavic salt or pepper shaker makes the perfect spell powder shaker and comes with crushed Pysanka shells to protect your home. These babies are basically ready to go! Just fill the shaker with the accompanying vial of shells and all you have to do is shake shake shake. You can dust your hands, clothing, petitions or items you wish to gift to people you are working on. Only you will know whats inside! The other interesting aspect of keeping your protective dust in these vintage shakers is that Slavic embroidery / patterns were often done to add protection and magic. So think of this little dust receptacle also as magical talisman and amulet that you can keep in your home.

Crushed Pysanka Shells are a slavic twist to Cascarilla or White Eggshell Powder that is a potent cleanser & protective agent. Can be used on the body, dissolved into water to create a liquid bath & floor cleanser. Also used for drawing circles or for marking magical symbols on walls or floors.

Many superstitions were attached to pysanky, they were thought to protect households from evil spirits, catastrophe, lightning and fires. Eggs with spiral motifs were the most powerful, as the demons and other unholy creatures would be trapped within the spirals forever. A blessed pysanka could be used to find demons hidden in the dark corners of your house.

They held powerful magic, and had to be disposed of properly, lest a witch get a hold of one. She could use the shell to gather dew, and use the gathered dew to dry up a cow’s milk. The witch could also use bits of the eggshell to poke people and sicken them. The eggshell had to be ground up very finely or broken into pieces and tossed into a running stream. The cloth used to dry pysanky was powerful, too, and could be used to cure skin diseases. And it was considered very bad luck to trample on a pysanka–God would punish anyone who did with a variety of illnesses.

I have quite the collection of these beautiful pieces & to keep it interesting I thought we could lower the price & I would send you a random one. Then I don’t have to keep taking pictures and you get a surprise! All of them have intricate beautiful designs that are either wood burned, etched, a applique, or painted.

You will receive 1 random Pysanka shaker, 1 vial of crushed Pysanka  shells, & info scroll. All the egg dust inside were ritually decorated and later crushed by The Witch
