Hallowtide Soul Cake Wax Tart Offering

Note: the tarts are 100% beeswax and have bloom on them. They can still be used but are no longer as “pretty” hence the sale price. 🙂

Hand poured and ritually charged with whispered spells and prayers to bring honour to you Ancestors and Beloved Dead. These wax tarts have been infused with Hallowtide Incense & Oils.

A soul cake, also known as a soulmass-cake, is a small round cake which is traditionally made for Hallowtide, to commemorate the dead in many Christian traditions. Hallowtide, Allsaintstide, or the Hallowmas season, is the triduum encompassing the observances of All Hallows’ Eve (Hallowe’en), All Saints’ Day (All Hallows’) and All Souls’ Day, which lasts from October 31 to November 2 annually. Hallowtide is a time to remember the dead, including Ancestors, The Beloved Dead, and Familiar Spirits. The cakes, often simply referred to as souls, are given out to soulers who go from door to door during the days of All hallowtide singing and saying prayers “for the souls of the givers and their friends”. The practice in England dates to the medieval period, and was continued there until the 1930s.
