Description
This beautiful candle features a man but it reminds me of the Slavic Forest Guardian named the Leshy.
The Leshy literally translated is, “from the forest” in Slavic folklore he is the keeper and guardian of forests and animals. Protecting his domain from pollution and deforestation. He wears his clothes back-to-front and casts no shadow.
He is a sportive spirit who enjoys playing tricks on people, though when angered he can be treacherous, stealing the signs from signposts and leading travelers deep in to the woods by calling out in a very human-like voice. Once he has the lost people in his cave, he tickles them to death. He is seldom seen, but his voice can be heard in the forest laughing, whistling, or singing. In his native forest he is as tall as the trees, but the moment he steps beyond, he shrinks to the size of grass. He has a very close bond with grey wolves, a creature that is very common in the forests of the Slavic countries but is also known to travel in the company of bears.
Beneficial to those he forms pacts with, he will protect cattle and crops. In return, you must surrender your cross to him and share Holy Communion with him after church on Sundays.
In these trying times and when the world no longer seems to care, anoint yourself & the candle with From the Forest Ritual oil and burn to form your pact.
Vintage German candle only one. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
