The spirit of the household’s yard, he is closely related to the Domovoi, but this little guy lives in sheds, stables, & most likely garages in modern times as opposed to inside your home.

New animals that were brought to the house are introduced to him, so that he can welcome them to their new home. He is believed to be hostile to animals with white fur, although he will tolerate chickens with white feathers, for they have their own god. His job is to look after your animals, except for sheep… as he really really hates sheep or any animals with white fur or wool, & it is said that he is allergic to white fur.

Although they are supposedly at your service, the Dvorovoi are rather impish in nature & may turn nasty. Luckily they can be bribed. If a piece of bread & some bits of sheep’s wool were left out, then he will probably do as he was told.

I personally believe in trying to work with my household spirits not against them & I highly recommend going the bribing route. Anoint yourself, leave him an offering of bread in your yard, & politely ask him to watch over your animals (even the ones with white fur), take care of your yard by keeping the faerie mushroom rings, weeds, & neighbors dog poop out of your grass. A person that appeases their Dvorovoi would be most successful in business: you will buy cheap & sell for good profit; your rye will go undamaged by hail, even if it destroys crops on neighboring fields. He will not let witches harm a master’s cows, & will restores any damage & protect from evil spirits.
