Boneset (also know as White Snake Root ) is traditionally used to ward off jinxing illness; carry it in a mojo bag with Angelica Root and Devil’s Shoestring. It has also been carried to protect from snakebite. Also used in herbal medicine and likewise has a magical reputation for Preventing and Curing Unnatural Illness. You can also use this herb for ritual cleansing; to counteract Occult Poisons, rub the dry leaves all over your body, then take them outdoors and burn them.
It can also be used as a floor sweep in the sick-room by sprinkling it onto the floor and then sweeping it out the front door or you can brew it into a tea and bathe in it to get rid of enemy tricks that have affected your health; as a ritual cleansing body rub, rub dry Boneset leaves all over the body, then take the leaves outside and burn them.
Good for protection and exorcism: they gather the herb and tie bundles over doorways to repel ghosts and get rid of spirits that might have become attached to people who have had contact with the dead, they add it to an Uncrossing Bath or Wash, they carry it in a mojo bag along with angelica root and devil’s shoestrings. In contrast, Chippewa hunters made a charm to attract deer from the root fibers of this herb–in other words, they used it to bring near instead of repel.
