Baltic Amber Divination Dice

Baltic Amber Amulets were worn and carried on oneself to aid in protection, keep away diseases and against being killed in a battle. It had associations with time, cycles and longevity. As it once was a living substance, it is related to spirit. Slavic tribes thought amber magical because of its warm feel, its lightness and luster. Some believed amber was the petrified tears of gods. People believed that amber “pulled out” a disease from the body and “attracted” good luck and it was believed that amber adornments averted misfortune, kept its owner safe from black magic, cast out devils, guarded one from the evil eye, brought luck in love, and made it’s owner stronger and cleverer.

Dice have been used since before recorded history, and it is uncertain where they originated. It is theorized that dice developed from the practice of fortune-telling with the talus of hoofed animals, colloquially known as knucklebones. The Egyptian game of senet (played before 3000 BCE and up to the 2nd century CE) was played with flat two-sided throwsticks which indicated the number of squares a player could move, and thus functioned as a form of dice. Perhaps the oldest known dice were excavated as part of a backgammon-like game set at the Burnt City, an archeological site in south-eastern Iran, estimated to be from between 2800 and 2500 BCE. Bone dice from Skara Brae, Scotland have been dated to 3100–2400 BCE. Excavations from graves at Mohenjo-daro, an Indus Valley civilization settlement, unearthed terracotta dice dating to 2500–1900 BCE, including at least one die whose opposite sides all add up to seven, as in modern dice.

You can use 1, 2 or 3 dice together for fortune telling purposes. It is most common to use three dice. Draw a circle of roughly 20 cm (about 8 inches in diameter) and roll the dice. Some readers consider the reading null and void if any of the dice roll out of the circle. Others ascribe special meanings to the dice that fall outside the circle. Others ignore the dice outside the circle, only considering the sum of the dice inside the circle. If you decide that if the dice fall outside the circle then the reading is null and void: Any Dice falling outside the circle Argument to come. Any Dice that fall on the floor You are in danger of losing a friend. If you choose to count the dice that fall outside the circle then: One Dice falling outside the circle Difficulties or an upset.
